Summer Camp for Educators

New learning requires that students be in a calm, relaxed state. Students who are in the fight/flight/freeze, stress response, cannot access the higher centers in the brain in order to process new learning. This stressed state is most often accompanied by troublesome behaviors such as acting out, difficulty communicating needs, withdrawing, and lack of resiliency. This interactive workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn about the neurology of the fight/flight/freeze response and how it presents itself both physiologically and behaviorally in children. This different perspective affords teachers the opportunity to gain a new understanding of behaviors that students may exhibit. Participants in this workshop will learn and experience several Brain Gym® movement activities that can be used in the classroom. These simple movements unlock the door to learning by assisting students in ”moving” from a state of stress into a comfortable, more relaxed state in which learning can occur.
